Margaret Gabrielle Vere Long (1885 – 1952) here published under the pseudonym Marjorie Bowen (sometimes Joseph Shearing).
Having a somewhat sad and tragic life with an alcoholic father and growing up in poverty with a less than affectionate mother she was married twice and was survived by a son. This didn't stop her from writing pumping out over 150 volumes with the bulk of her work under the 'Bowen' pseudonym. In fact, this sad life may be to our benefit as she wrote some amazing horrific short stories. The ones presented here were originally published in various publications, noted where known, and in two short story collections.
